Worldwide Festival of Races
Think Global, Run Local
10-11 October 2009

386 Entrants in 23 Countries

On the weekend of 10-11 October 2009 runners from around the world will 'virtually' come together to celebrate their passion for the sport they love by running The Worldwide Festival of Races Half Marathon, 10K and 5K distances.

This race is a free, non-commercial event for runners of all abilities, where everyone is invited to register, train and run with us in the spirit of friendship. The only requirement is that you sign-up to run an official road race or a route of your choosing on the weekend of 10-11 October 2009, and report the results on this website. Participation in the race will also include a 'virtual' race bib, goody bag and completion certificate as well as a community forum and final results listing.
Through this website you will also be able to sign-up to participate, track your training (through Buckeye Outdoors) and share your results with a community that includes over 33 countries around the world.
  • Beginning runners interested in completing the 5K distance (3.1 miles) can take on "The Kick the Couch" training program to motivate them to achieve their goals.
  • Those seeking a tougher challenge can tackle the intermediate distance of 10K (6.2 miles) formally known as "The Zen Run 10K".
  • Finally we offer a distance to push the limits of human endurance formally known as "The Worldwide Half" that pushes runners to complete 13.1 miles / 21.1 kilometers 'virtually' together.

As you participate, you will feel that you are part of a festival of friends all over the globe, who will support you, encourage you, and are sharing this experience with you as you run your event locally. Join us in this exciting and real global event. If you are one of the 3,201 finishers over the past three years WELCOME BACK, or if this is your first time... WELCOME to this real event of Global Camaraderie powered by the sport of running. We look forward for you to share your piece of the world. Think global, run local.
